Pioneer Ridge: A Legacy of Alaskan Hospitality
Pioneer Ridge is a place where the grandeur of Alaskan wilderness meets the comfort of luxury accommodations. Our story is deeply rooted in the rich history of the land and the enduring spirit of those who have called it home.

A Homestead Heritage
Our journey begins in the early 1900s when the land was first homesteaded, captivated by the most majestic views in the Valley.
Today, the setting offers guests the chance to step back in time and enjoy a tranquil night under the stars, surrounded by the untouched beauty of Wasilla.

A New Deal Legacy
In the 1930s, our property became a beacon of hope and renewal as part of President Roosevelt’s New Deal, aimed at helping Americans recover from the Depression. Johan Johnson, his wife Irene, and their child from Anatol, MN, were among the fortunate families to start anew, drawing the farm in the colony lottery in 1935.
Their efforts in hay and small-crop farming laid the foundations for the resilient agricultural spirit that characterizes our land today.

The Era of Fairview Dairy
Transitioning into the 1960s, the property evolved into one of the Valley’s most prized Dairy Farms – Fairview Dairy. Through the partnership of the Joe/Myrtle Gisalson and Bob/Merlie McCombs families, the farm thrived, housing approximately 100 head of dairy cows. This era of collaboration and community further enriched the land’s legacy.

A Transformation into Hospitality
In 1986, a new chapter began as the dairy barn underwent a transformation into the B&B Inn you see today. This renovation was undertaken with the utmost care to preserve the barn’s original charm while infusing it with elegance and sophistication. The result is a unique lodging experience that offers magnificent views, spacious rooms, and the warmest Alaskan hospitality.

The Aurora Room at Pioneer Ridge
Discover the essence of Alaska in one of our common spaces, the Aurora Room. Perched on the top of the B&B via a circular staircase, the all-glass room allows our visitors to enjoy awe-inspiring 360-degree) views of the Matanuska Valley, a glimpse of the Knik Arm, and a panorama of three separate mountain ranges.
